Nick and Katherine Athan stand with their daughter Rita in front of the Square Deal Lunch 205 Occidental Avenue in the heart of downtown Seattle's Pioneer Square. The coffee shop and diner was owned by Nick and his relative Thanasi Athan. seen here on the signage, meals were not only cheap, but also mostly American style menus, heavy on meat selections. Meatballs, pork cutlets, liver and onions or veal could all be found for just 15 cents and up.
